TARGA RALLY PASSAGE CONTROL

Wed May 25 11:07am

We have a wonderful group of helpers to do the marshalling for the Crownthorpe Stage of Targa this weekend.
In order to boost the benefit to the school Targa has said we can do Passage Control as well.
This is a simple job that involves standing at the start of the stage with a little bucket and collecting money from each vehicle.
We can’t do it for our local stage, but they have offered us a spot at the SH50 end of Whakapirau Rd, Maraekakaho, starting at 2.15pm.The marshals will still be busy here, so I’m hoping another couple of awesome parents and kids might be able to do this for the school?
When we’ve done it before we had the portable school sign and the kids in uniform, and it was a lot of fun.
Please contact me at anna.apatu@gmail.com  as soon as possible if you can help.
Many thanks,
Anna

Safety Marshalling:                        CROWNTHORPE 1 & 2

* Marshals required:                             8
* Donation offered:                               $500
* Date of Event:                                   Sunday 29th May 2022
* Road Closure:                                   7:15am – 3:05pm*

*(We aim to have the road open earlier. 1 to 1 ½ hours is built in just in case of an incident requiring time to address)

DUTIES INCLUDE:

* Taping of the stage before road closure and erecting signs delivered to specific locations by a Traffic Management Company
* Marshalling during the event at assigned locations
* Removing tape when the stage is complete (this includes lowing the traffic signs)

Targa NZ provides the safety tape, Hi-Viz vests, road closure signage and the necessary paperwork including a ‘Marshal Training Guide’, video training, etc.  A Traffic Management contractor will place all heavy steel signs on the side of the road the day before.

Approximate time frames on the day:

* 1 or 2 hours before road closure – Taping starts of all gates and driveways on the rally stage. Intersections can only be taped at road closure time.
* ½ hour before road closure – All marshals to be on site at allocated intersections and start and finish points. NB: Targa Safety cars will check and remedy any missed gates.
* Road open time – Event will finish and marshals are required to commence removal of tape immediately thereafter.
